Internet and newspapers now a days are flooded with 9 to 5 job advertisements, work at home offerings and business opportunities. They appear frequently and are usually loaded with plenty of hype. Career change is a big deal! It is really hard to give up a job or even part of a job with its steady salary and benefits to start out on your own. But we should not forget that everything can be stolen, everything can come to an end but what persists for ever is the knowledge and experience you gain through years and real success is in using your expertise to do something at your own and making it a success.

Business or Job?

Most of us keep on searching for ways to be self-employed. Some have a creative business idea while others have to find a business idea that works. Some are attracted towards home-based businesses while others prefer a business located away from home. Some people need a business to boost up their income, some are eager to become their own boss, have fun, enjoy freedom for family and recreation, keep busy, help others and many different reasons for wanting to be self-employed.

First things that you should consider is to determine if you are really getting a real business opportunity that can help you grow or it is a job where you have to look towards your boss for every step you take. Do you remember the envelope stuffing thing where you get paid based on how many envelopes you can stuff. If your goal is to actually build a business with potential growth prospects then stay away from the 'work from home' arrangements.

Why Business Not Job?

Why most people prefer owing their own business as compared to a full time job is because they want to spend less time working than they currently do with a full time job. In a 9 to 5 job you have to spend your time and energy in your working hours but also spend half their waking hours each week attending to their job outside of the home or in the travel from home to office and then back home. Furthermore, many people with full time jobs often put in overtime each week. That's why the idea of own business is so attractive because after all we are giving all our precious time to ourselves. Running your own business do take lots of time and work but once it is stable then you will spend less time. Going into your own business can be both thrilling and risky. May be your new business fail; even if you succeed, the satisfaction can be heady.

Do you own your Business?

There is lots of difference between owning a business and owning a job. If you own a business and can't wait to get out your businesses can never be long-lasting. If you can't leave your business for say three weeks or so and it falls to the same condition that you left then what you actually own is a job. Business ownership requires that you are sure that your business systems and employees would all be going fine even if you are not there for some specific period of time.

Every business owner should be able to identify what is easy and what is profitable . Once identified, more attention should be paid to them. Being good at what you do is a lot easier and finding residual income that doesn't require constant attention is a great way to get there. You should get into business to own it and not doing business to own your own job.

Is Business better than a real job?

The real job requires you to get up early in the morning, get professionally dressed and get to work. In the office you have lots of work to do, being focused all the time and even after office timings your mind is filled with your job stuff.

One of the great advantages of business life is that you don't have real job stuff ever. You can work when you feel ready, whether its days or weeks. If you want you can do manage things in a way that your work goes smooth and you enjoy holidays. When you are dull you can take break and when find ideas seeping into your brain on pause mode then you can work at high-energy spewing forth all of them.
