Getting through the job interview is one of the most difficult parts of anyone's life. No matter how much knowledgeable and experienced are you but the interview process makes you stand on your toes. However tough it is to face the job interview process but this gives you an opportunity to showcase your qualification, skills and abilities to your potential employer help them assess your potential fit within their organization. Today we have brought 7 P's that will make you amazingly prepared to handle your job interviews successfully.
Planning:
- Is my dress looking professional?
- Will I be getting enough time to drive through traffic or catching public transport.
- Who will I be talking to?
- Should I expect a particular type of interview format?
Personal Presentation:
- Be well groomed.
- Dress appropriately.
- Do not chew gum or smoke.
- Offer good handshake.
- Do not become nervous.
- Smile but not too much.
- Use proper English.
- Avoid slang language.
- Present yourself, your documents and skills in a professional manner.
Positive:
- Don't feel anxious.
- Pretend to be positive and confident even if you are nervous.
Preparation:
- Know about yourself and the skills you possess. Know your knowledge, skills, competencies and what you have to contribute to the company and the job.
- Review your qualifications for the job.
- Review your accomplishments. Employers want to know what your track record is in achieving results and how you will contribute to successful outcomes.
- Learn about the organization.
- Be prepared for common job interview questions.
Practice:
- Practice in front of someone such as a friend or relative.
- Preparing yourself by looking in the mirror and answering the question is not advisable as it is a bit more difficult to give your answer to a live person than to look yourself in the mirror and do it.
- Practice what you're going to say and how you will say it on video or audio tape, to see and hear how you perform.
Participate:
- Be fully involved.
- Be at your best behavior.
- Use body language to show interest.
- Sit with good posture.
- Make good eye contact.
- Match some of the interviewer's style.
- Listen closely to the questions.
- Do not go off topic.
- Think before you respond.
- Give utmost attention to the interview and the interviewer.
- Do not ask questions about salary and benefits unless a job offer is made.
Put a valuable end to the interview:
- Thank the interviewer.
- Praise the interviewer by interest in his business.
- Pay attention to the final remarks
- Please for an apease
- Shake hands while leaving.
- Prepare for a followup call or send a short thank you note.
